About 31.9 percent of the 1,318 degrees and certificates handed out by Passaic County Community College in 2017-18 were to students in homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Paterson conferred 400 certificates and 21 associate’s degrees in homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies. Data shows the school gave out 325 associate’s degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies, followed by 208 certificates in criminal justice/safety studies and 98 certificates in criminal justice/police science.

The college enrolled 6,480 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
