About 20.3 percent of the 2,478 degrees and certificates handed out by William Paterson University of New Jersey in 2017-18 were to students in business, management, marketing, and related support services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Wayne conferred 409 bachelor’s degrees and 95 master’s degrees in business, management, marketing, and related support services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in general psychology. Data shows the school gave out 211 bachelor’s degrees in general psychology, followed by 207 bachelor’s degrees in speech communication and rhetoric and 152 bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice/safety studies.

The university enrolled 10,198 students for 2017-18, including 8,735 in undergraduate programs and 1,463 in graduate programs.
