Montclair State University earns top spots in U.S. News’ online graduate programs ranking

U.S. News & World Report has unveiled its 2025 Best Online Programs survey, and Montclair State University continues to be recognized for its online graduate offerings. The university’s programs that were part of the survey include the master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Education, Information Technology, Business, and Nursing.

The rankings highlight Montclair’s Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program as No. 14 nationally and No. 1 in New Jersey. In Educational Administration and Supervision, the university is ranked at No. 13. The online MBA program is positioned at No. 100 nationwide, while the Master of Science in Business Analytics program improved by ten places from last year to rank at No. 61.

Montclair’s Master of Science in Information Technology with a focus on Applied Information Technology is ranked at No. 50 nationally. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program saw significant improvement, advancing nearly twenty spots to rank at No. 58 and holds the second position within New Jersey.

U.S. News & World Report bases its rankings on five categories: student engagement, services and technologies, student excellence, faculty credentials and training, along with opinions from academic experts.

Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Junius Gonzales commented on these achievements stating: “We recognize that no two pathways to a degree are alike, and our educational options reflect that reality.” He added that “these latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report are demonstrative of our efforts to be leaders in offering curricula that best serves the 21st-century student.”

Beyond these programs, Montclair provides various other online graduate degrees and certificates aimed at equipping professionals with career-enhancing skills across fields such as Child Advocacy and Policy, Dance, Social Research and Data Analysis, Mathematics Education, Accounting, Social Work as well as advocacy, business education technology certifications.
