Montclair State’s basketball teams progress to NCAA Division III tournament’s next round

Montclair State University’s basketball teams have advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Both the men’s and women’s teams secured victories in their opening round games.

The men’s team achieved a decisive 79-57 win against Utica University. Senior guard Mike Jackson contributed 20 points, while junior forward Jacob Morales added 19 points. The Red Hawks are set to face Western New England University on Saturday, March 8 at 5:45 p.m. at Panzer Athletic Center located on Montclair’s campus.

The women’s team earned a hard-fought victory over Christopher Newport University with a close score of 67-64. Freshman forward Alyssa Craigwell led the team with an impressive 27 points. This marks the first NCAA Tournament win for the women’s program since 2018. They will play against SUNY Geneseo at The Catholic University of America at 7 p.m., also on March 8.
