Students at Montclair State University will have increased access to professional clothing as they prepare for job interviews, internships, and other formal events. This comes after a recent donation of more than 150 items by employees of PSEG to Rocky’s Closet, an initiative run by the university.

The clothing drive organized by PSEG collected suits, dresses, shirts, cardigans, and dress pants suitable for both men and women. The donated items were delivered in August ahead of the fall semester.

Rocky’s Closet was established in 2017 by Advocacy and Outreach in the Office of Student Belonging. The program provides business attire—including gender-neutral options—to students who may not otherwise be able to afford it. All donations are dry-cleaned before being made available on campus.

“The donation of clothing items from PSEG is an example of the community connection needed to support Rocky’s Closet,” says Jonnine DeLoatch, Assistant Dean of Student Belonging at Montclair. “Rocky’s Closet is part of Montclair’s commitment to supporting the well being of our students and providing a resource that they might not be able to afford as college students. We appreciate PSEG’s support to our students and know that their donation will have a direct impact on our students’ professional success.”

“We’re proud to partner with Rocky’s Closet and Montclair State University to help students dress with confidence as they begin their professional journeys,” says Sheila Rostiac, Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief Diversity Officer at PSEG and trustee on the Montclair State University Board. “The generosity of our employees shows the power of community support and reflects our commitment to investing in the next generation workforce.”

PSEG has had a long-standing partnership with Montclair State University beyond its involvement with Rocky’s Closet. The company also supports initiatives such as the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies (ISS) Green Teams internship program at Montclair State University, which has provided opportunities for student internships and career development since 2016.
